Technorati is one of the most famous and important internet search engines designed specifically for blogs. Technorati bases its results on tags that are placed in the blog to categorize search results. Every time a blog writes something new, a ping is automatically sent to Technorati and Technorati immediately adds the posting’s tags to the search index.

In addition, Technorati uses the number of blogs linking to the blog over the last six months to assign a blog an “authority”. The authority is a measure of a site’s standing and influence in the blogosphere. Strive for that 1000 authority as its the highest authority possible.

To verify that you are actually the owner of said website or blog, Technorati requires that you publish a specific post.

Mar 09, 2010. Technorati will need to verify that you are an author of the blog by looking for a unique code. Please put the following short code E3MQGZ76T76Q within a new blog post and publish it. Once it is published, use the “Verify Claim Token” button to tell Technorati your blog is ready for verification.

I actually preferred the days when you could just put the badge in your sidebar. For a blog such as this, where I can incorporate the post into something more useful, its not bad. But, for my blogs that are not about blogging, putting the code in a post just looks awkward. Bleh. And you have to leave it up there for quite awhile because the review process can take a minute.

Ah, well…hopefully you found Technorati before you got too many followers are you’ll just have to flub a post right quick explaining what it is. Again, I say, bleh…
